Kings of the Sun is the Australian hard rock band founded by drummer, singer and songwriter Clifford Hoad. Formed in Sydney in the mid 80s, the band hit the national Top 20 with their first single Bottom of My Heart, appeared on Countdown, and in 1987 signed to RCA Records in New York. Their self-titled 1988 debut was produced by Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, KISS), followed by Full Frontal Attack (1990) and Resurrection (1993).
Kings of the Sun toured internationally supporting KISS, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Joe Satriani and Sammy Hagar, and shared stages with INXS, Jimmy Barnes, Rose Tattoo and The Angels. Clifford has led the band ever since, releasing a string of independent albums including Rock Til Ya Die (2013), Razed on Rock (2016) and Playin’ to the Heavens (2017), and playing Sweden Rock Festival in 2014.
Clifford’s hand drawn artwork is also the heart of SO LOCAL Surf, Skate & Street on the Gold Coast.
